"It was not you who chose me, but I who chose you." ~John 14:16
Sr. Lucy , born in 1962 to the family John and Augustina Ezeobi both good practicing Catholics. The fifth of seven children, 4 boys and 3 girls, in Aguata L.G.A. Anambra Stae, in Awka Diocese Nigera.
My parents prepared me for my vocation through daily family Masses and rosaries. Most of my early childhood was spent helping my parents in the farm. Later I lived with my grandmother while I attended middle school and helped with chores around her house. The Lord invited me to Him through different events and people in my life. I became a member of the Mary League Association, Legion of Mary and the Block Rosary Crusade that prayed the rosary every evening and this deepened my faith. After my secondary education, the zeal for religions life became more vivid.
In 1987, I joined the Congregation of Daughters of Mother Mary of Mercy as a postulant, and after two years, novitiate. I was professed in August 15, 1992 and took the name, Nnaemeka Lucy Ezeobi a memorable day in my life.
My assignments as a pofessed sister took me to different communiities, and I was assigned to such duties like working in our piggery house at Nkporo, while visiting the sick in the villages especially on the weekknds, our Orphanage home in Ahiaeke, and as a Sacristan at Christ the King Cathedral Aba and in charge of the Diocesan Book Shop.
In 1996, my congregation sent me to the United States where I first worked in pastoral Care ministry at Transfiguration Catholic Church in Atlanta, Georgie and afterwards at St. Joseph Chntholic Church in Vinton, Louisiana. I am presently at St. Bartholomw the Apostle Catholic Church in Katy, Texas. My job as a Liturgy and Pastoral Care assistant has broadened the scope of pastoral ministry to the sick, the suffering and the dying in nursing homes and the homebound.
I attended a training at the University of St. Thomas in the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston to prepare me for these responisiblites in the parish. I also particiapte in coordinating the parish nursery. My favority hobbies include cooking, listening to music, news and singing.
God has blessed me with so many wonderful people in my life. I thank my congregation and many friends like the St. Bartholomew Catholic family for so many opportunities I could never have had.
